Unlike orthodox whole-leaf tea, CTC leaves have a high surface area that releases colour, strength, and flavour in 2–3 minutes. The result is the bold, full-bodied cup that forms the backbone of classic Indian chai — and the reason the Surianalle Sequel brews darker and stronger than any whole-leaf orthodox tea in the range.
    Most everyday chai teas are blended CTC from multiple estates across Assam, West Bengal, and South India — optimised for consistent colour and strength across batches, not for the character of any one place. The Surianalle Sequel is single-estate: every batch comes exclusively from Surianalle Estate, Munnar. The difference shows in the cup — a noticeably cleaner malty character with dark honey and molasses depth, rather than the flat, generic strength of a blended teabag. Same bold extraction; distinctly more character.
    Yes — it's the best chai base in the Tea Stories range. BOP grade is specifically processed for the bold extraction and tannin structure that holds up to milk, spices, and sugar without going flat. The malty character and brisk finish work particularly well with ginger, cardamom, and clove. Brew strong first (2g per 150ml at 90–95°C for 3–4 minutes), add spices to the liquor, then finish with hot milk. The orthodox teas in the range are designed to be drunk without milk — this one is designed for exactly this.
    Both are single-estate CTC black teas from Munnar, but calibrated differently. Surianalle Sequel is BOP — coarser granules, slightly more layered, with dark honey and molasses depth. Talayar Tidings is BP (Broken Pekoe) — finer granules, bolder, more astringent, built for maximum strength in a heavy-milk chai. If you want a well-rounded cup with some nuance, Surianalle Sequel.
